Course Description:

You may have heard about Twitter, since it gets mentioned a lot in the news, on tv shows, at events, and more recently because of US politics…  It’s a social networking platform for sharing and following short, frequent updates, called tweets. It is one of the BEST places on the web to follow real-time news, perspectives, and trends! You can follow news organizations and governments from around the world, world leaders & business leaders, your favorite celebrities, musicians, authors, experts, health news, sports, politics, news for your specific industry or city, live events, and so much more!

Twitter is a great place to meet new people! You can connect with people who live in your area, who are in your industry, or who have the same interests. It’s a more public networking platform, where anyone can ‘talk’ to anyone. You can choose to set your account to ‘private’ on Twitter, but most people have their account set as ‘public’. Twitter has 353 million users worldwide (vs. 2 billion+ each for Facebook and YouTube) – just 25-35% of the online population in the US and Canada are there, so it’s not right for everyone. If your audience is active on Twitter, it’s a great tool to have in your marketing mix for proactive outreach online.

Learn how to get your first 100 followers by setting your profile up for success, determining what & how often to share, and how to find and connect with relevant people. We’ll cover rookie mistakes to avoid, effective use of hashtags, how to get organized using lists, what to share, new features of the platform & more! Learn how to take a strategic approach that will support your business goals, and help you to connect with opportunity. If you have been wanting to explore Twitter, but have no idea where to start, this course is for you!
